Who This Service Is For

Comp Sci Hub is an educational computer science revision platform intended for use by students aged 14 and over within a school or college setting.

Student accounts are created and managed by teachers or school administrators. Students cannot self-register for this service.

Data We Collect

Depending on how a school chooses to configure the platform, we may process:

• Student or teacher name (or display name)
• Username or school-issued identifier
• Email address (typically for teacher accounts only)
• School name, class, or year group
• User role (student, teacher, administrator)
• Learning activity data, such as scores, completion status, time spent, attempts, or lives
• Technical information required to maintain secure access (e.g. login timestamps)

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data, photographs, home addresses, or behavioural notes.

How and Why We Use This Data

Personal data is used solely to:

• Provide access to curriculum-aligned revision activities
• Track student progress and completion
• Allow teachers to review results and identify learning gaps
• Maintain the security and integrity of the platform

Comp Sci Hub does not include social features, messaging, public profiles, or content sharing.

When used by schools, personal data is processed under one or more of the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

• Public task — supporting the delivery of education
• Legitimate interests — providing an effective learning platform

Schools act as the data controller for student data. Knowplace Ltd acts as a data processor.

Access Control and Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data.

• Students can only access their own data
• Teachers and administrators can only access data for their own school
• Passwords are securely hashed
• Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS)

Data Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for educational use.

• Accounts may be removed by schools at any time
• Inactive accounts may be routinely cleaned up after extended inactivity

Schools may request deletion or export of data at any time.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data may be processed by trusted service providers (such as hosting providers) solely to operate the platform securely.

User Rights

Under UK data protection law, individuals have rights including access, correction, and deletion of personal data.

Requests should normally be made via the school, who controls the account.
